In pizzas, pastas, or just by itself, Italian sausage adds complexity and flavor to your entrees. Don't be intimidated by making your own sausage, either. All you need to do is mix ground meat with a few dried spices!

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp coarsely-ground black pepper (Caution: The strictest form of the AIP eliminates black pepper. Leave it out if you are sensitive.)
Directions
  1. Mix meat with dried spices (a stand mixer makes this very simple).
  2. Crumble and brown in large greased skillet. Cook over medium heat for 12 minutes.
